Nearby Listings feature

A new feature, Nearby Listings, was added to our connectMLS system in late March 2026.

When you first access the connectMLS home page, you'll see a couple of new graphics in the bottom right corner:

• The New Feature Available! popup window appears for several seconds before disappearing. It is there simply to alert you of a new system feature. You can force it to reappear by clicking either the SmartMLS logo or the My MLS menu (both are in the upper left corner).
  Note: If you put your mouse cursor on top of the popup, it will remain on the screen until you move the cursor away.
  Nothing happens if you click on the popup window. This is by design. It exisits purely to draw your attention to that corner of the screen.
   
• The orange Nearby Listings button remains on the screen while you're on the home page. As soon as you open a different screen (search, reports, add/edit, etc.), the button is no longer visible.

Nearby Listings is designed to show you all of the Active and UC-CTS listings within .5 miles of your current location. It is a cross property search, so you will see listings from all property types.

In order for this feature to work, your device must allow your location to be shared with Connect. That is how the center point of the 1/2 radius is determined. If you get a popup message after clicking the orange button, please make sure to accept/allow location sharing.

Immediately after clicking the button, a new screen opens with a thin column of search filters on the left side and a map on the remainder of the screen:

The map is centered on your current location (the red dot) and searches within a half mile radius in all directions (technically, the default map search area is 1 mile wide since it is looking .5 miles on either side of the center point). 

You can use the filters section on the left to add any other search criteria or adjust the default criteria. For instance, if you only wanted Single Family and Condo listings, use the Search Type drop-down to switch from Cross Property to Single Family & Condo. If the default .5 mile radius is finding too many (or too few) properties, use the Proximity: field to decrease/increase the size of the search area. 

Click the Show List button to view the matching properties.
