Fix list price on New listing

Entering a New listing on the MLS is an exciting experience. Sometimes the excitement can get the best of you and you end up transposing two numbers (or entering an extra 0, etc.) when entering the list price. Now your brand new listing is out there with the wrong list price.

What do you do?

First and foremost, don't panic! These things happen all the time and can easily be fixed.

There is a new feature in connectMLS that lets you, as the list agent, fix this type of error if you catch it within the first 24 hours of the listing being published as Active. The best part- you can correct the list price without the listing showing as Increased or Decreased! The listing will continue to show as New (or Coming Soon) and there will be no traces of the mistake or correction in the listing history.

If you find yourself in this situation, just go to the Add/Edit menu and click View/Manage My Listings & Transactions:

Locate the desired listing and click the Edit icon 2024-08-29_14-16-03.jpgon the right side of the screen.

The second option in the list of add/edit forms is Correct List Price without Recording History (once within 24 hrs):

The next screen displays the current list price and provides a field where you can enter the correct list price:

After entering the correct price in the List Price field, click Save Changes

Your listing will continue to show as New (or Coming Soon) even though you technically changed the list price field. In addition, the change you made to the price will not appear anywhere on the listing or within the listing history.

Here's an example of the listing history after a price correction has been made using this new feature:

Note that all of the price fields (current price, original price, etc.) show the same corrected price. There are no traces that the list price was entered incorrectly or was adjusted.

You can only use this feature one time per listing. If you have used it once and realize that the list price is still not correct, you'll have to contact SmartMLS so we can fix it for you.

Reminder: this feature is only available during the first 24 hours after the listing has been published as Active or Coming Soon. After 24 hours, you will not be able to make this change yourself. You would have to reach out to SmartMLS so we can fix this for you. We (SmartMLS staff) are still able to fix these types of errors regardless of how long the listing has been on the system.
