There are many areas within the state of Connecticut that do not appear in the list of Cities/Towns on search screens and in Add/Edit because they are not recognized as being their own separate town. They are generally villages or neighborhoods within a recognized town.
The most common ones are:
- Mystic (village within the town of Groton)
- Old Mystic (village within the town of Stonington)
- Rowayton (village within the town of Norwalk)
- Southport (village within the town of Fairfield)
- Old Greenwich (village within the town of Greenwich)
- Cos Cob (village within the town of Greenwich)
- Falls Village (village within the town of Canaan)
- Willimantic (village within the town of Windham)
- Noank (village within the town of Groton)
- Storrs (neighborhood within Mansfield)
Having its own zip code or post office does not automatically make an area its own separate town.
