Listing entered under wrong property type

If you accidentally enter a listing under the wrong property type (for example, as single family rather than condo) and publish it as Active or Coming Soon, you no longer have to re-enter the listing. SmartMLS staff have the ability to change the property type of a listing.

Note: a SmartMLS staff member can help you with this in real-time, but only if you are able to stay on the phone with us while we fix this for you. 

After we switch the listing to the correct property type, there will be new required fields that were not present under the old/incorrect property type that must be completed. You will have to provide us with the correct information for these fields in order to complete the process of switching property types.
 

IDX sites and portals will update to the new property type (and additional fields) within a few minutes of the correction made by MLS Staff.

If you have entered a listing under the wrong property type and it is after SmartMLS's business hours, you must wait until the next business day to contact us about correcting the mistake. If you cannot wait until the next business day for us to help you, you can go through the following process*:

1. Mark the erroneous listing TEMP or WITH so it does not remain on the MLS in an available for sale status.
2. Use the TEMP/WITH listing to clone to a new listing under the correct property type (and copy the photos if necessary).

After you have published the new listing under the correct property type, call the MLS office and ask that we delete the listing that is under the wrong property type (the one that you marked TEMP/WITH).

*This option should only be used in dire situations where you absolutely must change the property type immediately (it cannot wait until SmartMLS is able to address it for you the next business day). 

Since IDX sites and portals update shortly after changes are made in the MLS, the property's appearance on downstream sites generally should not dictate that the situation is dire enough to mark the listing TEMP and completely relist it under the correct property type.
