Listing entered under wrong property type

connectMLS does not have the ability to change the property type of a listing. If you accidentally enter a listing under the wrong property type (for example, as single family rather than condo) and save it as Active, you will have to re-enter the listing all over using the correct property type.

  1. Mark the erroneous listing TEMP or WITH so it does not remain on the MLS in an available for sale status.
  2. Use the TEMP/WITH listing to clone to a new listing under the correct property type (and copy the photos if necessary)
  3. Call the MLS office and ask that we delete the listing that is under the wrong property type (the one that you marked TEMP/WITH).

If the listing was on the MLS for a while before you realized it was listed under the wrong property type, SmartMLS staff will recreate any historical data (status or price changes, for instance) that appears in the listing & property history as best we can. We will also adjust the DOM/CDOM so it accurately reflects the listing's time on the MLS.

*** For statistical purposes, it is not proper (nor permissible) to just cancel the erroneous listing- it must be deleted from the system completely ***

If the listing is still in the Draft status, delete the Draft listing and then re-enter the listing under the correct property type. You will not be able to clone from the Draft listing, so you will have to start from scratch.
