For sale listing appears on websites as a rental (scam)

We have been notified of a few instances where a property is listed on SmartMLS as a For Sale listing, but it appears on some rental websites (apartments.com, etc.) as a rental property.

Unfortunately, there is nothing that the SmartMLS can do about to prevent this from happening. In these instances, the data for the listing on these sites is not coming from SmartMLS. These websites allow anyone to create an account and then they are free to list properties, whether or not they are actually legitimate listings.

The list agent should try to reach out to the site(s) where the property is being incorrectly/illegally listed and ask them to remove it.

SmartMLS does not get involved in these situations.
